Note: The list is not in order from least to most popular.

Air Jordan 1 Black/Red

Ahhhh! The shoe that started it all – Air Jordan 1. The Air Jordan 1 in black/red will forever be the most popular Jordan 1 because of the controversy surrounding this shoe. Everyone knows the story by now, but if you’re new to the game, take a few minutes and educate yourself with some sneaker history above. It’s also worth mentioning that some fans feel the letter from the NBA should have been more specific because they never mentioned the Air Jordan 1 (black/red). Instead the NBA addressed a red and black Nike basketball shoe, failing to mention the “Air Jordan 1.” Regardless of which red and black shoe the NBA was referring to, the sneaker history book documents the Air Jordan 1 black/red that was banned in 1985.

This particular Air Jordan was so fresh Phil Jackson had to get a pair. Speaking of Phil, Uncle Phil Knight also had a crush on the Air Jordan 4 back in the day. But as you already know, it was MJ that made them instant classics. Never forget “The Shot.”

Air Jordan 13 White/Black-True Red

Do we really need to explain why this is one of the most popular Air Jordans? You can blame Spike Lee, Jake & Jesus Shuttlesworth, and the 1998 movie He Got Game. Oh yeah, Mike probably helped, too!

Michael Jordan won his first championship in this shoe. Also, the Air Jordan 6 in black/infrared is most likely sexier than your… nevermind.

Air Jordan 3 White/Cement

We’re pretty sure the 1988 Slam Dunk contest has a lot to do with the popularity of this Jordan. Don’t quote us on that, though. We can’t forget Mars Blackmon. Is it the shoes?

Air Jordan 11 Black/Red

The Air Jordan 11 is very, very special to fans of Jordan Brand. When talking about the most popular, it would be considered blasphemy to leave this model/colorway off this list. And we’re not sure, but we think the Chicago Bulls colorway has a lot to do with the fame of this shoe. Ha!

Once again, you can blame Spike Lee and his 1989 movie Do The Right Thing for the popularity of the Air Jordan 4 in white/black-cement grey.

Air Jordan 3 Black/Cement

The Air Jordan 3 in black/cement is a love at first sight type of thing. Would this shoe be the same without those classic Mike & Mars Blackmon ads?

Air Jordan 5 Black/Metallic Silver-Fire Red

Will Smith made the Air Jordan 5 ridiculously popular on the 90s TV show The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. It’s a tough debate, but we’d have to say the black/metallic silver Air Jordan 5 is the most popular among the other colors. It was a tough call because the Air Jordan 5 in white/fire red is popular, too.
