$3M of Stolen Nike Sneakers Turned Up in an Unexpected Place

What would you do with $3M worth of Nike sneakers? Someone in Central Kentucky decided to put them on their front lawn, the Associated Press reports.

In a bizarre turn of events, sneakers stolen in 2009 from Nike’s Tennessee distribution center were recently found by the Radcliff Police Department. But the women who was in possession of the sneakers, Zetta Joanna Thompson, didn’t know they were stolen. She had bought them from someone else and was trying to flip them at a flea market.

This situation seemed like quite the come-up for everyone involved—except until the woman got caught. Local customers were able to get their hands on older Nike releases and pay below retail for them—they were being sold for $5 per pair.
